NEW SYSTEM
FOR THE IMPORTATION OF FULLY ASSEMBLED
USED RIGHT HAND DRIVE MOTOR VEHICLES
THE PUBLIC IS HEREBY NOTIFIED OF THE FOLLOWING:

Effective March 5, 2003 the process of certifying Importers under the
Dealership System for the importation of fully assembled vehicles will
commence.

Import Licences will be issued to importers who satisfy all stated
criteria for Certification.

Vehicles (used Right Hand Drive Motor Cars and utility
Vehicles) imported must satisfy the following conditions:

VEHICLES MUST NOT BE MORE THAN (4) YEARS OLD FROM THE YEAR OF
MANUFACTURE and at the time of importation into Trinidad and Tobago.

Vehicles must be accompanied by a Certificate of Cancellation of
Registration stamped by the Transport Authority in the country of origin
which provides the exact age and mileage of the vehicle.

Cancellation Certificate must bear the Engine and Chassis numbers of
the vehicle.

Vehicles must be structurally and mechanically sound and in an
undamaged condition on importation.

Vehicles must NOT be fitted with a diesel engine.

Vehicles must be imported with only Ozone friendly refrigerants in the
air conditioning system.

Vehicles must be sold subject to the following condition:
The Dealer must enter into a written sales agreement with the
purchaser, which SHALL contain, but is not limited to, the
specified minimum Terms and Conditions detailed in a Specimen Agreement.
A Breach of any of these Conditions can result in the cancellation of
the Dealership Certificate.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry reserves the right to alter the
above Terms and Conditions as and when necessary.
