Providing information promptly and keeping users abreast of international developments.

VISION

To be the foremost authority on trade information, specific to Trinidad and Tobago.

MISSION

The mission of the library is to contribute to this organisation’s overall success by providing a well-maintained comprehensive and current cache of relevant information.

The mission of the Ministry of Trade & Industry is …. “to promote trade and investment locally, regionally and internationally, and, to enhance industrial development thereby promoting the investment attractiveness of Trinidad and Tobago.


The Library is managed by four members of staff

The Librarian III
The Librarian I
The Library Assistant I
The Clerk Typist I

It carries a specialised collection of information and is a member of a network of special libraries in Trinidad and Tobago.

Where are we located?

Level 15, Nicholas Tower, 63-65 Independence Square, Port of Spain.

Who uses the library?

It serves mainly the members of staff of the Ministry of Trade & Industry. Members of the public are welcome to use the library providing their needs pertain to the library’s portfolio.

Library services

  • Access to a fully computerised database which contains over 17,000 trade-related records.

  • Bibliographical searches on trade and investment information.

  • Internet searching for current, international and varied perspectives.

  • Access to online information services and electronic delivery of current reports.

  • Provide a wide variety of current information which includes audio-visual material and CD/ROM.

  • Authorised to carry out interlibrary loans to better serve our clients.

The Library offers a wide range of information on various topics. These are available in several formats such as: - journals, books, newspaper clippings, CD/ROM and audio-visual material.

Some of the topics available are:

  • International & regional trade

  • International & regional investment

  • Free trade areas and trading blocs

  • Foreign direct investment

  • Economic development & growth

  • Small & medium enterprises

  • Trade-related intellectual property

  • Service industry

  • Industrialization, privatization

  • Anti-dumping and competition

Current computer and telecommunication technologies have led to the development of online information services, the Internet and multimedia packages to continually transmit information. Information professionals have an obligation to make their organizations and users aware of these information systems which would provide unimpeded access to the world’s knowledge. Some examples:
