Events Management
Cabinet established the Events Management Centre in the Ministry of Trade and Industry in 1988. Initially all Ministries were responsible for making their own arrangements for the hosting of events. However, difficulties were experienced due to lack of expertise and assistance was regularly sought from the staff of the Ministry of Trade and Industry who had been involved in the organizing and planning of events for a number of years. Due to the increasing number of events hosted by Government it was felt that an Events Centre should be established to provide an efficient and effective service. The main objective of the Centre is to market the available expertise and offer training and consultation for the timely execution of events both locally and internationally. The Centre serves its clients by providing not only training programmes, which are held to sensitize its publics on the importance of planning but also ensures that it offers premium service for the planning and hosting of local, regional and international events including conferences, seminars, exhibitions, etc. The Centre has been involved in the planning and organizing of a number of international events such as: The Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government. OLADE XXIV Council of Experts and XXV Meeting of Ministers. Association of Caribbean States. Special Meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM and GC Countries. Fifth World Hindi Conference. Commonwealth Ministers of Culture.
