UNIT PROFILE

The Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Trade and Industry was set up recently to improve the implementation of the broad spectrum of projects undertaken by the Ministry and its Agencies:- Business Development Company, Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, and Evolving Tecknologies and Enterprise Development Company Limited. The overarching goal however in establishing the Unit, is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry and its Agencies in the successful implementation of projects funded under the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP). A detailed list of the projects presently being implemented is provided below:

The majority of the projects can be described as soft projects that would bring economic benefits to Trinidad and Tobago, as their scope includes elements to create new trade and investment opportunities as well as to promote business and industrial development.

Some projects such as the Development of Industrial Estates and the Tamana Intech Park, are construction projects undertaken by EtecK, as part of the development thrust to increase the number of industrial estates across the country and to provide an integrated industrial park to attract foreign investment in high technology areas.
