National Services Industries Strategy (2011 – 2015)

The Services sector is an engine of growth for Trinidad and Tobago. Services Industries contribute over 60 percent to Gross Domestic Product and provide employment opportunities for a large cross-section of Trinidad and Tobago’s society. Given the critical importance of this sector, it is necessary that it be further developed and nurtured to ensure that the objectives of economic diversification and prosperity for all are achieved. Therefore, in this context, a National Services Industries Strategy is being developed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to facilitate the growth and development of the sector in a holistic and sustainable manner. It is intended that, when completed, this Strategy will guide Government's treatment of the services sector. It is also envisaged that this document will be flexible given the current environment in which the policy is being developed.
