KINGSTON, JAMAICA. April 26, 2012. On the opening day of Expo Jamaica 2012, Trinidad and Tobago was singled out for the size and diversity of their visiting contingent. Our representatives included private sector investors as well as an official delegation led by the Honourable Minister of Trade and Industry, Stephen Cadiz comprising of HE Mervyn Assam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary with Responsibility for Trade and Industry; HE Dr. Iva Gloudon, High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica and MTI senior officials.

Strengthening T&T and Jamaica

DOHA, QATAR. April 20, 2012. TTFZ & BSMEL signs US65M deal

PORT-OF-SPAIN, 16th April 2012 (MTI): April 16th, 2012 marked the official start to the new T&T Free Zones Company Limited (TTFZ) Board of Directors’ first major investment project. Facilitated by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), TTFZ has signed a lucrative US$65M deal with energy services company ShawCor Limited’s largest Division, Bredero Shaw Middle East Limited (BSMEL), to re-establish a pipe concrete coating facility and storage yard at Site A, Union Industrial Estate, La Brea.

Mniister meets TTBizLink Staff

The Minister of Trade and Industry, the Honourable Stephen Cadiz visited TTBizLink staff today, Friday April 13th, 2012 to gauge their progress in the implementation of modules in the Single Electronic Window program. He was pleased to learn that in addition to the five working modules, the Business and Company Registration module will be coming online soon. The Minister is committed to ensuring bureaucratic processes within the non-energy sector are expedited to better facilitate business.

Negotiations between T&T and Guatemala

His Excellency Mervyn Assam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for Trade and Industry met with the nation’s top economic and trade minds from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communications; as they convened for an economic review during the first day of Partial Scope Trade agreement negotiations between Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala on Wednesday April 11th, 2012.
