About the Trade Directorate

The Trade Directorate’s core purpose is the identification of opportunities,  negotiation of trade agreements, development of policies, and enablers towards the sustainable development of non-energy trade, particularly export-led trade.  It therefore has the responsibility to develop, manage and grow market access for non-energy trade in goods and services.  This is required to stimulate exports and improve the prospects of the manufacturing and services sector for economic growth, development, and prosperity of Trinidad and Tobago.

Work Programme
The 2010 Work Programme of the Directorate to achieve its responsibility include:

1. Enhance and sustain market access opportunities for goods and services in traditional markets.
   
2. Facilitate the improvement and sustainability of CARICOM trade in goods and services.
   
3. Enhance market access in new markets
   
4. Promote the expansion of services exports.
   
5. Oversee the implementation of trade agreements
   
6. Facilitate expansion of goods and services exports
