How to Apply for an Export Licence

Application forms are available online or can be collected at:-

Completion of Forms
  •  Export application forms must be filled out in triplicate and written up in block letters. 
  • Insert Tariff No, Quantity of Item, C.I.F. and Terms of Payment.
  •  Applicants must submit original and copies of all documents, certificates and ID; BIR notice of assignment of file number 
  • Companies applying for the first time must submit Company Registration Certificate and BIR notice of assignment of file number 
  • Insert company stamp where applicable (at the point of signature) 
  • All signatures must be originals (no photocopies will be accepted). Export of fish, animal species and wild flora and fauna require the prior recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources before the application can be submitted to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment. Export Licences will be ready for collection within one (1) working day of lodging applications.

Export of Horses:
  • Import permit (horses) stamped by the Ministry of Agriculture or an authorized agency of the country to which the animals are to be exported. 
  • Veterinary health certificate from Trinidad and Tobago (Division of Animal Health) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources. 
  • Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority Certificate of Exportation. 

Export of Dogs, Cats, Sheep and Goats:
  • Veterinary health certificate from Trinidad and Tobago (Division of Animal Health) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources. 
  • If obtained from a private vet, then the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources must certify. 
Export of Plants:
  • Plant Protection Organization of Trinidad and Tobago certificate. 
  • Invoice with detailed description of plant. The biological name of the plant must be included. 

Export of fresh/frozen Fish, Shrimp, Crabs and other Seafood as outlined on the Export Negative List:

  • The Director of Fisheries must approve items and quantities for export on all three forms. Export of Scrap Metal: 
  • Submit valid Scrap Metal Dealers Licence obtained annually from a District Court. 

Export of Birds:
  • Veterinary health certificate from Trinidad and Tobago (Division of Animal Health) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources. 
  • Special export licence form for wildlife (reptile, amphibians, birds, mammals) from Wildlife Section-Forestry Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources. 
  • The CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) permit.
